Marriott Shoals - Craft Farms

Marriott Shoals is amongst the stops along the Trail, an enjoyable course with comfortable, luxurious accommodations in Florence, Alabama. Kiva Dunes, which was designed by U.S. Open champ Jerry Pate, is right on the Gulf of Mexico. Craft Farms offers may be the mother of all Alabama golf courses. Its 54 holes are comprised of Arnold Palmer’s Cotton Creek and Cypress Bend, and Larry Nelson’s The Woodlands. Baldwin County, near Mobile, Alabama, offers up Steelwood Golf Resort, Timbercreek, Rock Creek, The Peninsula, and Glenlakes. You’ll find Timbercreek along the north side of I-10. Each of them plays its part in putting Baldwin County amongst the Top 10 golf destinations in the country! For simpler fare, enjoy 18 holes at the consistently well-ranked Lagoon Park Golf Course in Montgomery. (Just remember, it’s closed on Tuesdays.) All in all, it doesn’t take long to figure out why the rural and unlikely state of Alabama is a true a golfer’s paradise.

Amongst the local tournaments held in Alabama are the Regions Charity Classic, the Spring Fling Junior College Golf Tournament, and the annual Golf Tournament for Veterans Military Museum. Local support means a lot to these courses, and the people of Alabama.

Great golf may not yet be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Alabama, but playing a few of the great courses along the Trail will make a believer out of you... Give Alabama a drive-through, and stop at any of over 100 courses. Once you have, you’ll agree that Alabama is for golfers!
