Vail Golf Course Descriptions - The Vail Valley also offers over a dozen courses for the ambitious golfer. Whether it’s a quick and leisurely par 3 at the Eagle Vail Golf Club in Avon or a breathless round at the 8200 ft. high Vail Golf Club, spend a week traversing the mountains west of Denver and you won’t play the same round twice. Vail golf courses include: Adam's Mountain Country Club, Beaver Creek Golf Club, Brightwater Club, Cordillera, Cotton Ranch Club, Country Club of The Rockies, Eagle Ranch Golf Course, Eagle Springs Golf Club, Eagle Vail Golf Club, Eagle Vail, Willow Creek Golf Club, Red Sky Golf Club, Red Sky Golf Club, Sonnenalp Golf Club, Vail Golf Club.

For those looking for a challenge, Cordillera Lodge and Spa in the Vail Valley is home to five semi – private courses designed by golf legends Jack Nicklaus, Hale Irwin, Dave Pelz, Tom Fazio and Greg Norman. The Summit Course at Cordillera demands 7,530 yards out of your clubs, a lengthy course by any standard. Colorado Golf Magazine rated Cordillera’s practice facilities, teaching facilities and course cuisine as the top in the state for 2008.

Golf Scene in Vail Valley - A 38 mile stretch of I-70 west of the Mile High City, the Vail Valley comprises the towns of Vail, Minturn, Avon, Beaver Creek, Edwards, Eagle, Wolcott and Gypsum. Each town offers a diverse mix of easy going mountain culture coupled with top-notch service at the many resorts, spas and restaurants that dot the Vail Valley. Any of the twenty plus links in the area offer unobstructed views of surrounding mountains and the thin air is some of the cleanest you will ever breathe.

Lodging – Across the Vail Valley, accommodations abound. During the golfing season, towns across the valley are virtually empty as compared to the winter months. Fantastic deals on lodging as well as golfing packages make a summertime Vail golf excursion more affordable than one may think. Whether you are looking for a night in a hotel or a week in a private mountain home, you are sure to find a deal that satisfies your taste, proclivities and budget. It is recommended that you book your trip well in advance to take full advantage of the biggest discounts available, especially over holiday weekends.

Tips – When it comes to getting exactly what you want out of your Vail Valley golf vacation, you will need to know a few things. Despite the exclusivity of some private courses in the area, most accept same day reservations for tee times. Many courses offer cheaper rates after 3pm and are almost always more affordable in the early and late season months. Sea level swingers will be happy to know that at 8,000+ feet in elevation, your drives will go up to 15% farther. Watch your ball shrink to a speck against the panoramic backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. Unfortunately, while the atmosphere will benefit your long game and make you feel like a god amongst men, your putter will not see increased accuracy.

Transportation - I-70 is your friend when exploring the Vail Valley. Every town is easily accessible via this magnificent stretch of highway. The undulating tarmac will bring you past crystal clear lakes and sky scraping mountains. Fly into DIA and head west on the only highway you will need on your trip to Vail and back again. If you prefer to be chauffeured to and from the valley, a number of shuttle companies will be happy to cater to your individual needs. For a more direct approach, the small airport at Eagle is a stop on American and United Express airlines during the summer months.

19th Hole Entertainment – Vail is much more than a summertime haven for golfers. The entire family is sure to enjoy day hiking, mountain biking, river rafting, horseback riding or fishing. Even for diehard golfers, the countless other outdoor activities can be tempting. After the sun sets in the Vail Valley, mingle with the locals at a high altitude steakhouse or pub and trade tales of long drives and chip-ins.
