Golf Virginia

Augustine Golf Club in Stafford County has to be one of the most memorable courses in the country. The emerald-green fairways seem literally magical, as they flow between the pines, hardwoods and ponds, lending the course a surreal feeling that will have you stopping to stare at the vibrant beauty of it all. If that were all, it might just be enough… but its not. From impeccably kept grounds and course to award-winning dining facilities that are sure to please, the environment is impeccable… but we’d come here for golf, and golf you shall have it! This magnificent and challenging course first opened in 1995. The vision of Rick Jacobson serves up 6817 par-71 yards with a course rating of 74.3 and a slope rating of 142! A mere 30 miles from the Washington Beltway, you’ll find what has to be one of the most naturally beautiful courses in the nation! Augustine was ranked within the Top 10 in the state, and in the Top 100 You Can Play in the nation.

Deep within what is known as the Tidewater area is Newport News Park, Virginia’s public municipal course, offering up two separate championship courses. The 6,645 yard par-72 Cardinal course was designed by Ed Ault and has a rating of 70.9, with a slope rating of 118. An attractive course with tee selections for beginners and those still learning the game, it serves the golfing community well that way. The more impressive Deer Run course, also an Ault design, brings us 7,206 par-72 yards, with a rating of 73.7 and a slope rating of 133. This course was awarded a 4-star rating by Golf Digest in 1998, and listed in the 100 Best Courses in the region by Washington Golf Monthly. Four tee sets ensure that Deer Run can be enjoyed by everyone, while offering up worthy challenges for the more experienced player.
